OSA 5220 NTP Server
The OSA 5220 NTP Server is a 19-inch rackmounted, 1U system containing a standalone, Stratum 1 NTP time server for TCP/IP networks. The OSA 5220 NTP Server is a breakthrough in network synchronisation technology, providing the ultimate in secure network management protocols that include SNMPv3, the secure version of SNMP, and SSH, the SECURE SHELL.
Utilizing a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver with advanced time and frequency extraction algorithms, the OSA 5220 NTP Server has a fast microprocessor for highcapacity packet throughput and supports many network protocols including NTP, SNTP (v4), TELNET, FTP and DHCP. The unit can be managed via SNMP, SSH, TELNET, or a local console on the RS232 serial port.
In most locations several GPS satellites are available that can be used. However, a unique OSA 5220 NTP Server feature is the ability to operate in a Single Satellite Mode. By employing proprietary Satellite Tracking and Oscillator Disciplining Algorithms, the OSA 5220 NTP Server requires that only one satellite be in view a few times a day in order to provide accurate Stratum 1 time to your computer network.
Since the OSA 5220 NTP Server can operate with only a single satellite in view, many sites can avoid the added expense of rooftop installation by window-mounting the antenna. The rack-mounted unit is easily installed and an Ethernet interface smoothly integrates with existing network equipment. On networks supporting DHCP, the OSA 5220 NTP Server is up and running in minutes.
